Chancellor's Commonwealth Scholarship
UMass Lowell is proud to award the Chancellor's Commonwealth Scholarship, our most prestigious scholarship, to a select number of our most academically qualified admitted freshmen from the state of Massachusetts.
Award: Annual award of full tuition, mandatory fees, and standard room/board for on-campus residents
- Minimum GPA of 3.75 and Combined SAT scores of 1400
- Massachusetts Permanent Resident
- Graduate of a Massachusetts High School
- Students are notified via their admissions acceptance packet
- Deadline – Admissions application must be received by the Early Action Deadline (December 1st) to be considered for this scholarship.
Renewal Requirement: Cumulative GPA of at least 3.25, full-time status, maximum of four award years.
Tsongas Scholarship
UMass Lowell is proud to award the Tsongas Scholarship to two of our most academically qualified admitted freshmen who are Massachusetts residents and graduates of Lowell High School.
Award: Annual award of full tuition, fees and standard room/board
- Two annual awards selected by Lowell High School & the UMass Lowell committee
- Open to Massachusetts residents and Lowell High School graduates
- Application solicited by the Headmaster of Lowell High School
Renewal Requirements: Cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, full-time status, maximum of four award years.
Dean's Scholarship Program
This scholarship is limited to a select number of the top 10% of our admitted freshmen to attract and reward those with high academic achievements.
Award: Annual award up to half tuition and mandatory fees
- Top 10% of Incoming Freshmen Students
- Selections made by College Deans
- Students are notified via their admissions acceptance packet
- Application Not Required - Preference will be given to students who apply through the Admissions Early Action Deadline, December 1st.
Renewal Requirement: Cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, full-time status, maximum of four award years.
Non-Massachusetts Residents
First-time, first-year domestic out-of state, New England Regional and/or Proximity residency undergraduate applicants are eligible to be considered for the scholarships listed in this section.
UMass Lowell National Scholarship
The UMass Lowell National Scholarship recognizes outstanding incoming freshmen from out-of-state who have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence, leadership and community engagement. Limited number of scholarships available.
Award: This scholarship award covers the difference between out-of-state and in-state tuition, an estimated value of $12,400 annually.
- Application - A separate application is required. Application must be postmarked by December 31, 2011.
- Admissions application must be received by the Early Action deadline of December 1, 2011.
- Minimum recalculated High School GPA of 3.0
- Minimum SAT score (critical reading and math) of 1100
- Available to domestic first-time, full time freshmen from out-of-state. Students who qualify for In-state, New England Regional or Southern New Hampshire Proximity rates are not eligible for this award.
Renewal Requirement: Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, full-time status, maximum of four award years.
Academic Achievement Scholarship
This scholarship is limited to a select number of the top admitted freshmen in each College to attract and reward those with academic achievements.
Award: Annual award ranges from $6,000 to $7,500

Provost Scholarship
UMass Lowell is proud to award the Provost Scholarship, our most prestigious out of state scholarship, to a select number of our most academically qualified admitted freshman from outside the state of Massachusetts.
Award: Annual award of half tuition and mandatory fees.
- Minimum GPA of 3.75 and Combined SAT scores of 1400
- Based on Merit
- Out of State, New England Regional, or Proximity Residency
- Students are notified via their admissions acceptance packet
- Application Not Required - Preference will be given to students who apply through the Admissions Early Action Deadline, December 1st.

Academic Council Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a select group of freshmen, with Out of State residencies, who demonstrate an exceptional level of achievement as measured by outstanding classroom performance and above-average scores on college entrance exams.
Award: Annual award of $10,000
- Minimum GPA of 3.50 and Combined SAT scores of 1200
- Based on Merit
- Out of State Residency
- Students are notified via their admissions acceptance packet
- Application Not Required - Preference will be given to students who apply through the Admissions Early Action Deadline, December 1st.

Regional Academic Council Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a select group freshmen, with New England Regional/Proximity residencies, who demonstrate an exceptional level of achievement as measured by outstanding classroom performance and above-average scores on college entrance exams.
Award: Annual award of $3500
- Minimum GPA of 3.50 and Combined SAT scores of 1200
- Based on Merit
- New England Regional or Proximity Residency
- Students are notified via their admissions acceptance packet
- Application Not Required - Preference will be given to students who apply through the Admissions Early Action Deadline, December 1st.
